Dyche Content With West Ham Point

Dyche Content With West Ham Point

Manager Sean Dyche has said it's hard to be disappointed with Burnley taking a point from West Ham United this weekend.

Hosting Slaven Bilic's side at Turf Moor for the game on Saturday, the visitors took the 19th minute lead through Michail Antonio but Chris Wood's 85th minute leveller saved us a point on the day.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media for his post game press conference Dyche explained.

'We kept going and got a point and it`s hard to be disappointed at the moment. There are naturally details within a game, but overall we have had a really solid start and there is some real improvement in the players and the team. We still need some bigger moments in the top third and some clarity, but there are good signs of what we are trying to achieve.'

As for the goal conceded in the first half, Dyche was disappointed with that as he felt it was poor based on our own standards so far this season.

'It was a really poor goal by our standards, from a long ball down the pitch and it`s very rare that happens to us. After that we settled down from the bitter disappointment before the sending off. Then the feel of the game changes and it`s not as easy as it sounds breaking down 10 men. They sunk in but we kept at it and definitely deserved something from the game, I`m sure of that.'

Dyche went on to say.

'We changed things tactically at half time because we felt they would camp in and look to break. Therefore, you need a bit more physicality in the front line. That`s how it ended up. They defended their box and it was a brilliant cross from Johann and a great run and finish from Woody. Credit to West Ham though. A lot has been made of them this season, but they fought really hard to try and get a win today and I`m pleased that we got at least a point.'

With a potential penalty at the end of the first half not being given, Dyche felt that the referee, Stuart Attwell, had no option but to send Andy Carroll off for two flailing arm incidents.

'It`s a definite sending off, just because of the way the game is. I don`t want to lose the physicality from the game because that`s an important part of it, but that went a bit too far. I don`t think there`s anything malicious in the first one, but the second one is a red and the referee has done what he had to do.'
