Tarks Will Bounce Back

Full back Matt Lowton has said he fully expects James Tarkowski to bounce back from his Leeds United disappointment when we face Huddersfield Town this weekend.

Having exited the EFL Cup on penalties in midweek, with Tarkowski being the man to miss his spot kick, Lowton admitted the centre half had been down in the dressing room but he knew he was a big enough character to bounce back.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media to preview this weekend's clash, Lowton knew it hadn't been a great game for his pal, but he expected him to put it behind him and rally right back with a big performance on Saturday.

'He was down in the dressing room and felt as though he had let the lads down. But people got around him and said he had shown the courage to step up and take a penalty. Since the start of the season he has been fantastic and the lads just tried to tell him how good he`s been. He had the courage to take one. He`s not tried anything silly. He`s just unfortunate that the keeper has guessed the right way and saved it. But he was all right on Thursday and I think he will be fine.'

Stepping into Michael Keane's boots since his departure for Everton over the summer, Lowton knew that with the loss of Tom Heaton as well it wasn't just Tarks who deserved praise for stepping into the breach, it was also goalkeeper Nick Pope. But equally we're a team and everybody is more than playing their part in our start to the campaign.

'We have lost a couple of key players but it shows the depth we`ve got in the squad. We said after the second half of the Crystal Palace game that we want to keep the ball a little bit more, rather than defend for 45 minutes.'

Adding.

'But we have got lads who want to defend and enjoy blocking shots because it gets the team what they need. After games we`re all taking about who scored and this and that, but then the lads in the back four are having a little conservation about blocks and stopping crosses. It`s a key part of anything, so for us to block a shot or stop a massive chance is just like the lads at the other end scoring.'
