Sometimes You Don't Get What You Deserve - Heaton

Goalkeeper Tom Heaton has admitted sometimes in football you don't get what you deserved and he knew West Bromwich Albion had sucker punched Burnley yesterday.

Hosting the side at Turf Moor for the game, and despite largely dominating, Burnley went down one nil on the day and whilst Heaton knew there were plenty of positives again following the opening day win over Chelsea, those positives were a bit raw given we took nothing from the match.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media to discuss the game, Heaton explained.

'I thought the performance in terms of the football we played - the mixed football - was excellent. We restricted them to very little and created quite a few chances. Unfortunately, we got done with a sucker-punch, which you always know is a possibility with West Brom and we have been done by it.'

The England stopper went on to say.

'On the one hand it`s massively frustrating and disappointing with the result, but there were a lot of the positives to take from the performance and another marker forward that we have set ourselves in terms of how we are playing. Sometimes in football you don't get what you deserve and this was probably one of them.'

With the chances we had, especially in the first half, the disappointing thing was in not testing their keeper as by rights we could've very easily found ourselves ahead and Heaton again talked about how well we had performed against a notoriously tough side to break down.

West Brom are still to concede a goal this season in fact, although it's still early days yet.

'They are a tough side to play. They make it difficult to break them down. I thought we imposed ourselves on the game and created quite a few chances, which on a different day go in. We restricted them to set-pieces, which they are dangerous from, but again I thought we handled that well.'

He went on to say of their goal.

'We`re disappointed with conceding that goal. Unfortunately, we have to take it but I know once the dust settles I know there will be a lot of positives because it felt good at times and some of the football we played was excellent. It`s still quite raw and we`re hurting a little bit, but moving forward I think it will be a good foundation to work from.'
