Dyche Confident Going Into West Brom

Manager Sean Dyche has said he feels the Burnley squad is stronger than ever as we go into the weekend's game against West Bromwich Albion.

Returning to Turf Moor for the first time in the 2017/18 Premier League campaign, Dyche was hopeful that home form would again be key for us as it was last season - ten wins as we finished 16th - but he knows it's going to be a tough old campaign even though we started it in perfect fashion against Chelsea.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media, Dyche was pleased with how the side continued to evolve this year with the players we've added to the group.

'We`re trying to move it forward year on year and I`ve made it clear that that is part of the club. Not losing sight of what we are, not losing sight of the strength of the team, but by adding to that and all the layers we can, I think we have moved it forward again. Unfortunately, we`ve lost some important players of course, but that`s happened before.'

Dyche went on to say that ultimately losing players is the nature of the beast in football and it's down to how you cope with that.

'But I think we`ve also brought in some important players and I hope the players that are going to mature into the club have become even more important than they think they are now, along with the development of the people that are in the group as well. We are always looking to find that healthy group of players who are stimulated to go and keep taking on the challenge, and that`s been a real good thing over the years I have been here.'

With five new signings so far this summer, and Dyche already talking about further additions if we can make that happen, he was however pleased with the overall strength of the group and the options available to him now.

'I think on paper the group`s got stronger and hopefully over the next 10 or so days it will get stronger again. But the performance is the real key. You know the game`s never played out on a piece of paper. Squads can look strong and teams can look strong and then you see the game and think 'oh, not as strong as we thought`, and vice versa. So, we want to make sure that the connection is there - not only looking stronger but actually deliver stronger as we get onto performances.'
