Cotterill not A-loan!

So the January Transfer window is closed but that does not mean players can no longer go out or come in on loan.

The January transfer rules are quite clear on this:

# Premiership and SPL clubs have until midnight on Wednesday 31 January to sign players. English Football League clubs have the same deadline for full transfers, but not for loans. English Conference clubs are not bound by the transfer window system.

# After midnight on 31 January, Premiership and SPL clubs cannot sign any players, on loan or full transfers, until one minute past midnight on 1 July. This window will stay open until midnight on 31 August.

# Clubs in the Football League can sign players on loan outside of the transfer windows.

# Outside of the transfer windows, any club may still sign players on an emergency basis with the permission of their competition's governing body, ie the Premier League.

# Players who are out of contract and do not have a club, can be signed at any time.

Steve Cotterill is reported as saying:

'Nobody was going to go on loan on Wednesday because we've been littered with injuries and we're not going to let anyone move at the moment.'

A number of our players were rumoured to be going out on loan over the Transfer Window with Branch and Garreth O'Connor rumoured to be going to Accrington Stanley.

John Spicer in particular, could well have gone to Crewe and appears to have turned down the opportunity after thinking about it over last weekend. It was then suggested, he could perhaps return to Bournemouth but nope!

Stephen Foster, was the next rumour with suggestions that Dario Gradi may well want to bring back his former player to Gresty Road. Another no,also denied by Dario himself earlier this week!

Looks like we are sticking to our guns and will retain our 23 man squad for the foreseeable future providing we can extend the loan deal on Mike Pollitt whose month is nearly up!

The speculation might now be whether we need to or will bring in any additional loans. Do we need a right back? Do we need another striker option with Gifton now gone and Gray still injured? Even if Gray returns in Febraury it may take some time till he returns to full match fitness again.

So what do you think, should we bring in more loans. Please comment below
