Fitness Levels Please Dyche

Fitness Levels Please Dyche

Manager Sean Dyche has been speaking about his delight at where the players find themselves fitness wise just a week into our pre season training campaign.

Speaking to the Official Site a short time ago, Dyche spoke about how 'meticulous' the sports science and physio teams were at the club and he feels the players are in the perfect place to have the programme ramped up ahead of next months Premier League kick off.

With Shamrock Rovers up on Friday evening in our first pre season friendly of the summer, a delighted Dyche explained.

'I`m really pleased. It`s still really early but the lads have come back really fit and we`re really happy with the shape they`re in. That allows us a bit more freedom to work with them on a more detailed basis, rather than having to work them really hard early on to get their base up. Their base fitness is already very good, but I trust my group.'

Dyche went on to say that Burnley had actually had a little bit extra time off such was the trust he had in the group to come back in the proper shape, and he respects that honesty from them.

'A lot of teams were back in training last Monday, but we came in on Thursday because I trust the group. They had their programmes, they know what their demands are internally and they know from the Premier League. There`s a real honesty about the group and I`ve admired that for a long term, so that trust goes into thinking that they`re almost definitely going to come back in good shape and I`m pleased to say they have.'

With new signings Jack Cork, Jonathan Walters and Charlie Taylor easing themselves into life at the club during training, Dyche admitted he was hopeful of adding a few more faces this summer.

'That side of things (early signings) is getting more difficult. The timing has been important in that clubs want to change things themselves and we`ve managed to use that wisely. There`s another couple of situations that may arise, so the earlier the better ideally, but it`s not always the ideal situation. The natural progression of any football club is when players come and go - that is just part of the business.'

'We`ve remodelled the side a few times since we`ve been here and we`re probably in that process again, or certainly remodelling the squad. It`s important the squad has depth and competition, then it`s down to the lads who have shown what they can do already to keep showing that, and down to the new lads to convince me that they should be playing.'
