Dyche Happy But Targeting More

Michael Keane leaving for Everton was an obviously blow for Burnley but his exit would have been expected really. Another central defender would therefore feature highly in Sean Dyche's plans when it comes to an addition the boss would look to make I'd think?

Dyche is happy with his three arrivals so far - Jack Cork the most recent on Tuesday after Charlie Taylor and Jack Walters - and certainly the fact he's managed to bring them in early.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: 'That side of things is getting more difficult. The timing has been important in that clubs want to change things themselves and we`ve managed to use that wisely.'

The boss went on to say he has another 'couple of situations' he could move on and those happening sooner rather than later would be preferred too.

'There`s another couple of situations that may arise so the earlier the better ideally but it`s not always the ideal situation.'

Cork's arrival, in a deal that could eventually cost Burnley up to £10m, added to the squad members but as much as Dyche does admitted the Clarets are 'quite light' when it comes to numbers he wants to keep a 'real tight squad.'

A couple more would allow this but still bring the competition for places Dyche desires at Turf Moor this season.

Dyche concluded: 'We`re still carrying quite light numbers and I think we need more players in, which we`re actively looking at at the moment, but we don`t want too many, we like that idea of having a real tight squad and that real competition for places in all areas.'
