Cork Officially Back In Claret

Cork Officially Back In Claret

On Tuesday evening, the Official Website announced the return of Jack Cork.

Cork has joined Burnley for an undisclosed fee from Swansea on a four year contract - the BBC report the fee 'could rise to £10m with add-ons.'

The BBC also quoted Cork: 'It's great to be back [at Burnley]. I've got some great memories from the year and a half I was here and it's good to come back and see some old faces. It's good to come back and try and have another go here, especially in the Premier League.'

Adding: 'I've heard lot has changed, the whole set-up has changed and the playing staff is completely different to when I was here. It's a new challenge for me and one I'm excited for and I'm looking forward to meeting new people.'

The midfielder, vice captain at Swansea last season, was in the final year of his contract at the Liberty Stadium having joined the Swans from Southampton in 2015.

£10m for a player with just a year on his contract seems a lot of money doesn't it but that's modern football for you - it should also be used as a reflective amount for others here - and we know what to expect from Cork.

It's often said 'never go back.' Well, not only has Cork, 28, gone against that, having two previous spells on loan from Chelsea earlier in his career, the former England U21 international is doing it again. But this time it's on a permanent basis.

Cork had now gone out to Ireland to link up with his new teammates for pre-season.
