Heaton & Keane Pick Up 2016/17 Awards

Heaton & Keane Pick Up 2016/17 Awards

England goalkeeper Tom Heaton has been named Burnley's Player of the Year with fellow international Michael Keane taking the Players' Player of the Year award.

Both players have had good season's as Burnley booked Premier League survival this campaign and their performances have been suitably noted.

Speaking to the Official Site after picking up the gongs, Heaton explained.

'The support has been superb and thanks to them. It's an immensely proud moment and fantastic to be part of what we've achieved this season. I love being part of it. It's been great to stay in the Premier League and we want to build on it and go forward from here.'

Keane said himself.

'It`s an honour to be voted by the players. I`m sure it wasn`t an easy decision. A lot of others would have deserved it. Playing regular Premier League football, alongside the defenders we have here, with Heats behind me and the gaffer pushing me on, I think I have improved a lot. It`s been an unbelievable first season back in the Premier League.'

With the campaign seeing us book successive seasons in the top flight since 1975, there were other awards on offer.

Jeff Hendrick took Goal of the Season for his effort last December in the three two victory over Bournemouth but our top scorer for the year remains to be seen with Sam Vokes and Andre Gray still battling it out.

Vokes' goal against Bournemouth last weekend put him on eleven for the campaign and he's one ahead of Gray now so it's all eyes to the West Ham tie to decide tat one.

Youth Team Player of the Year award, chosen by under-18 boss Michael Duff and his staff, went to defender Oliver Younger.

Centurion medals were presented to Vokes (200), Ben Mee (200), Keane (100) and George Boyd (100) for making landmark appearances during this term.
