The Rumour Mill-'The Beast' Off?

Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen has been told he can leave the club after asking for a transfer according to the Daily Mail today.

If this is true one wonders if the request was put in before or after the arrival of loan goalkeeper,Mike Pollitt. This may also explain why we did not have a goalkeeper on the bench in our last match against Southampton at St Marys last Saturday

With our other goalkeeper, Danny Coyne sidelined and injury prone, this could leave us exposed if god forbid anything should happen to Mike Pollitt.

It will be interesting to see how the goalkeeping situation resolves itself should Brian depart. Both goalkeepers contracts were due for renewal in the Summer. Will we bring in yet another goalkeeper before the transfer window closes or will we be hoping for Coyne to return soon? What will happen in the Summer, will we be hoping to tempt Pollitt into a permanent transfer or will we be looking for one or two additional keepers?

I have always felt when Jensen was playing at his best, he was just as good as Coyne,if not better. His physical presence and intimidation was worth its weight in gold compared to the relatively diminutive Danny!

However,'The Beast' did seem prone to lapses and inconsistency and this always seemed more evident when there was no other goalkeeper breathing down his neck for a place. A situation which occured regularly in the last couple of seasons with Coyne succombing to a number of serious, long term injuries.

If the rumour is true a number of Claret fans will miss 'The Beast' and we will all wish him well

It would be a great shame if this was true. Jensen has been an outstanding figure in the squad and has regularly featured in the line ups each week. If fact, he is the single most reason why some matches we won and drew. His stopping talent would surely be missed, and I do hope that this is another unfounded rumour! If indeed it does turn out to be true, then we could be looking at having no available keeper in times to come, by way of the 'Beast' Jensen gone, Coyne injury prone, and Pollitt gone back to Wigan after his loan spell has ended. Another dilemma to wonder about!

I see you lads have got Gudjohnsson. I expect him to do a cracking job for you , and to pick up a few yellow cards. He has bite in the middle of the park and a wicked shot. Good luck Joey!

And hows Djemba x 2 doing? Do you need more players now you have him?
