Cotts Cold Water on Transfer

Earlier this week Steve Cotterill announced that he hoped a fourth signing would soon be coming to the Club. Most fans thought this was almost a certainty based on the fact that the manager very rarely announces such anticipated deals in advance.

Speculation began amongst the fans as to who this unnamed player might be and it was hoped that we might see another new face in our match against Norwich at home this Saturday.

A second Clarets home debut for a re-signed Ade would be complimented by the home debuts of our two new loans, Mike Pollitt in goal and our new midfielder,Djembe-Djembe. Was there going to be a fourth though?

The answer now seems to be 'no', with a further announcement today from the manager who said in relation to the anticipated signing

'It is ongoing, but probably looking less likely than likely, which has meant I am onto something else now.'

It would therefore appear that something has gone wrong with the deal although Steve doesnt appear to have completely ruled it out yet. There have been so many rumours, it would be folly to speculate who this player actually could have been.

The positive aspect however seems to be we haven't given up on new signings in the January transfer window. It just looks like we might have to be patient and wait a little longer to see who Steve has in mind.

Steve however does have a tendency to surprise the fans and many will remember John Oster turning up for the Clarets for his home debut having been signed with no announcement. Is Steve trying a few mind games to unsettle a few Canaries before the match on Saturday?
