The Rumour Mill-Andrew Davies

There have been quite a number of rumours linking the Clarets with the possible move of Middlesbrough fullback Andrew Davies. This has all been whispers and speculation though.

Andrew Davies was born in 1984, in Stockton-on-Tees.He has been capped for England at Under-21 level.

He joined Middlesbrough as a thirteen year old and has since moved up the ranks of the club making his debut on November 6, 2002, in a League Cup defeat against Ipswich Town.

Davies made several appearances during the 2003-04 season before suffering a broken leg in a reserve league game.

He joined Queens Park Rangers on loan for three months in January 2005,before being loaned out again, this time to Derby County. The Rams extended his period to a full season's loan but an injury crisis at Middlesbrough prompted them to recall Davies in January 2006. During the loan spell for the Rams he was sent off on three occasions although seemed to impress the club despite the disciplinary record.

According to one website this morning however it would appear he has apparantly turned down a move to Burnley.

It seems that Davies wants to fight for his first team future at the Premiership club.

He also played in the FA Cup match this week against Hull

Well if this loss is true lets just hope this was not the player that Steve Cotterill was predicting would be signing for the Clarets within the next few days.

Who knows if this was the player Cotterill has been tracking for over a year, hopefully not - but seeing as the Clarets manager is being tight-lipped over this possible signing, perhaps the player in question is a higher rated. I think this question is still up in the air, but we shall see in due course.
