'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Laffs Laughs Last?

Well the youth system at Burnley need to be applauded in developing such a talent as Kyle Lafferty in so few years. The lad still only 19 now features often in the first team as well as playing for Northern Ireland and appears to be hot property at the moment.

Today we have already heard that Celtic are prepared to offer £500,000 for him. It is however understood that Lafferty is also a reported target of Liverpool, Manchester City and Blackburn, although Celtic do appear to be the favourite to sign him. Kyle also seems to relish the prospect of playing North of the Border when he says ''Celtic are massive and the lure of European football is very appealing.'

No wonder then the plaudits have been free flowing recently.

Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez has been complimentary about Kyle and is quoted as saying:

'Kyle has got a lot going for him, he's one of a rare breed with a physical presence. He's a big lad and we don't have too many of them.'

The last time Ade was at the Turf before re-signing, Kyle was just breaking through and being hived out on loan to Darlington. Ade played with Kyle up front in the last match against Southampton on Saturday and appears to also have been impressed by his talents.

'I couldn't believe it when I came back and watched Kyle in training,'

'He's come on leaps and bounds, and his work-rate's phenomenal.

'For a young lad who's hungry and wants to do well, he's got massive ability and a big future ahead of him.'

Oh well, it will be interesting to see how this develops and if he goes how much we will get for him and what effect if any this will have on the fans new found confidence concerning the recent 'ins' rather than 'outs' in the January window! It would be sad to see such young talent with potential leave the Clarets and £500k sounds way too low to me. £1 million and maybe a Celtic player thrown in would be more appropriate. With our small squad, if we do see Laffs go, we need to find a replacement quick before the window closes
