'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Celtic After Laff

Scottish Champions Celtic have reportedly made Kyle Lafferty their top transfer target, with a £500,000 bid tabled.

The striker is seemingly interested in the move, with the BBC quoting him as saying: 'Celtic are a huge club and I'm honoured to be the subject of a bid.".

'I grew up supporting Rangers but that wouldn't stand in my way.'

Lafferty has bagged four league goals for Burnley this season, although he has mainly featured as a sub.

'Obviously there's a long way to go but I'll be talking to my club and my agent,' added Lafferty, who moved to Turf Moor from NFC Kesh in the summer of 2004.

'I'll also have to have a long chat with my mum and dad.

'Celtic are massive and the lure of European football is very appealing.'

With all the talk of who is coming in at the Turf, this is sure to leave a bad taste in the mouths of Clarets, as Lafferty has gone from the youth side, to a fledgling international career in the last 18 months.

If this deal were to go through, fair play to the lad & best of luck to him. Although, I believe Cotterill cannot afford to lose Lafferty at this time, what with the size of squad he has at the moment. If Lafferty was to leave for Celtic, would he see regular first team football? Celtic have a lot of good / great strikers playing well at the moment - no disrespect to the Lafferty but I think he would be better to stay until the end of the season, and build on his experience with us. He has definately got a bright future ahead of him!

According to BBC Sport a number of papers today report: Celtic will have to increase their £500,000 offer for Burnley's Kyle Lafferty if they want to land the Northen Ireland striker. (Various)
