'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DJ: This time I'm at a good place

Steve Cotterill pulled off what can be seen as a coup when he managed to bring Cameroon international midfielder Eric Djemba Djemba to the Turf on loan last week.

Djembe-Djembe is reported as saying 'Lille wanted me and that would have meant the chance to play against Manchester United in the Champions League.'

In a blog entry on his personal website last week, Eric also seems to give the impression that several European clubs were chasing him prior to signing in at Turf Moor.

Whilst his website is, unfortunately, in French, I have tried my best to translate what he has said. Before signing off with 'Eric, In Paris` he writes:

"I am at this moment in Europe and am meeting several clubs that are interested in my services"

'Little Cantona` began his career in France, making a big name for himself with Nantes which prompted Sir Alex to splash the cash to take him to Manchester United, and it looked as though he could have been heading back to France until Burnley stepped in.

Speaking in yesterday`s blog after the game, he had this to say:

"I am just back from Saint Mary Stadium in Southampton where I was playing my first match with the Clarets, Match which ended in a nil draw.

"I arrived only yesterday, and was selected straightaway for this match even before getting to know the names of my fellow players.

"Two of us are in the same boat : Mike Pollitt was also playing his first match with this team as goalkeeper. I enjoyed the match and had the opportunity of trying a few offensive actions where I could be my old self.

"So since yesterday and until the end of the season I am on loan to the Clarets of Burnley. After many months of dithering and rumour, we've finally reached this agreement I needed to play and I think that this time I am in the right place.

"Burnley, a second division club called 'the Clarets' started in 1882, it is a founding member of the clubs of the Premier League. They stand at the 13th place with 38 points. Burnley is a town of around 90000 inhabitants, 300 km from London as the crow flies. The stadium is called Turf Moor and is one of the oldest in England having been used for the first time in 1883."

I wish the DJ twins well. He was a very, very average player at Villa. Mind you, if he is happy in himself you make get a gem in the making?

After the Southampton game, Djembe-Djembe apparantly stated, "I have not been playing for Cameroon either, because if you are not playing first-team football for your club you cannot play for your country." Therefore, he is committed to putting in good performances in order to try and get back into his nation's side - good news for the Clarets and for him personally - let's see what he can do until the end of this season.

DJx2 could make a big difference to your season, as for a link to Cantona, if he jumps over the railings and *****s some cockney bloke using his big gob with his boots is as close to Cantona as he will ever get.
