'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Djemba-Djemba comes to Turf!

Burnley have signed Aston Villa midfielder on loan for the remainder of the season.

Eric Djemba-Djemba 26 year old Cameroon international is available for the weekend game at Southampton.

Eric joined Manchester United from French club Nantes in 2003 and was then signed by Villa for £1.35m in January 2005. However he has not played many games for Villa, the last being in August 2006

Djemba-Djemba will wear the Number 18 shirt.

Steve Cotterill is reported as saying on the Official Site: 'We have signed Eric on loan until the end of the season.

'He has not played a lot of football but obviously on the back of Micah Hyde leaving we had to move to do something.

'Eric has good pedigree and we are hoping that once we get him fit he will be a good addition to the squad for the rest of the season.

'It shows something about the boy's character that he is prepared to drop down from the Premiership to play for Burnley.'

i think cotterill could have been more careful with his words: "he is prepared to drop down from the Premiership to play for Burnley."
bit cheeky!!! but a good deal for burnley, especially given their position at the moment. if he can help you into the play offs then maybe it wil be more permanent!

Has Djemba Djemba got something about claret and blue? Come over to Southend Vital and pick your team of the season so far.

Interesting development, Djemba-Djemba in for a season long loan. What's the long term idea - doubt the midfielder would permanently move? It's more like a move, so he can gain match fitness and more games under his belt - show Villa what they have overlooked, perhaps. Good for the Clarets, I hope he helps us turn oround our fortunes!

Looks like that comment from Dave Kevan only yesterday saying Hyde would not be replaced by a new midfield signing was a bit of a smokescreen for Eric coming in. Does make you wonder now if there will be a role for Chris McCann and if so who will be dropped to make way for ED-D!!

We have seen McCann play in other roles, perhaps Cotterill is thinking he can cover more ways of playing by signing Djemba-Djemba on loan. I still believe the Clarets should be looking into strengthening the defence. We are leaking too many goals at the moment. A couple of clean sheets, with Akinbiyi and Gray (when fit) putting away goals at the other end, should see us climb the league and even sty in contention with a play off spot.

Hahaha have fun with Eric. Believe me...it's not two for the price of one with Djemba.

Man of the Match today in a great debut away at St Marys whilst we get a vital point against the 4th placed team! Eric looks a great bit of inspirational loaning by the manager!

DJx2 may be the missing link, he never got a chance at Villa, we paid Manyoo 1.5 million for him. If he performs for you all well and Good, please pop over to Vital Villa and let us know how he is doing.
