The Rumour Mill-Gary Hamilton

For the second time in two days there is a rumour that Burnley are interested in Gary Hamilton from Glentoran based on local Irish ITV News

The lad looks quite a hotshot. He has scored 26 goals already this season Gary Hamilton got his third hat-trick for the Glens last weekend when Glentoran beat Armagh 8-0.

With a name like Hamiliton [Remember Billy?] and the Glentoran connection that has served us well over the years from the early 60s, this might be a good omen if the rumour is true.

The 26 year old Northern Ireland International used to play for Blackburn until a back injury ruined his chance there.

He also had an unsuccessful spell at Rochdale

Hamilton currently holds the Irish Premier League record for the number of goals scored in a match, scoring six againist Omagh Town in October 2004. A full-time professional with Glentoran, he previously played for Portadown F.C (2001-5),Rochdale (2000-1) and Blackburn Rovers(1997-2000) He gained 5 international caps between 2003 and 2004, having previously represented the Northern Ireland at every other level.

After reading up on Hamilton from various sources, he seems to be quite a player. But would he be suited to the English Championship League game? Okay - so he's been in the national side, but that was back in 2003 / 2004 season, why isn't he in there now? Perhaps one to track, but not sure - Cotterill should be looking to bolster our defence, especially after the perforamce on Tues night at Reading!
