The Rumour Mill-Craig Fagan

The Daily Mirror reports today that Burnley boss Steve Cotterill is ready to snap up Hull City attacker Craig Fagan in a £500,000 deal.

Hull chairman Adam Pearson is reported elsewhere as saying he has not given up on persuading striker Craig Fagan to stay at the club after his deal expires in the summer.

A number of clubs, most notably Derby have also shown interest in the player

'There have been a few bids and we've been talking about it but we don't want him to go anywhere. We've offered him a new contract,'

Fagan,24, joined Hull from Colchester two years ago. he has so far scored six goals this season with four goals in his last seven games.

Despite the Mirror article however, it would appear that Derby have put in a substantially higher offer. Vital Hull FC site cites the Hull Daily Mail and comments:

'The Hull Daily Mail website is reporting that Craig Fagan will leave the club this week, with a £1 million bid on the table.

The Rams have offered £750,000 for the 24-year-old which could end up as high as £1 million, depending on appearance clauses.

Chairman Adam Pearson is quoted by the HDM as as saying, '£1m is a quite incredible amount.'

'We have to make a decision in the next couple of days, but when a player has turned down three contract offers it's fairly obvious he isn't going to stay.'

'But I've got no gripes with Craig. He has been a credit to himself and his commitment and performances have spoken volumes.'

would cost you in excess of £1 million, which is what Derby have tabled....

Who knows what the heck is going on and where the Mirror got this rumour. If the NOTW is to be believed we have a £4 million war cheat so on that basis if we really wanted Fagan we could up the bid. Most Clarets however would find that amount of money available doubtful The rumours round here suggest £2 million at most with some of that already having been spent on Ade Akinbiyi

The Mirror this morning, seem to confirm they are one day behnd everybody else when they report Derby County boss Billy Davies outbid Burnley to win the race for Hull City's talented striker Craig Fagan in a £75 0,000 deal last night.

Pity about Fagan going to Derby - but I suppose if the Clarets were up there in the top 5, then Fagan may have well come here!
