The Rumour Mill- David Healy

The persistent rumour linking David Healy with the Clarets refuses to go away despite widespread interest in the player from other clubs including some in the Premiership.Healy however still has 18 months to run on his contract. He has also been linked with a transfer window move to the Premiership, with Wigan, Charlton and Sheffield United among the clubs rumoured to be interested in signing him. Can the Clarets compete in this market?

Where do these rumours come from? The trouble is you tend to hope they come true but does anybody really believe any rumours that eminate from such a paper with the reputation of the News of the World?

You could possibly stretch to thinking David Healy might be a player of interest to the Clarets but realistically could we ever afford him and where did the four million war chest come from?

Its widely been speculated that we have £2 million to play around with and some of that has now been spent on Ade Akinbiyi. We have our new director, Brendan Flood to thank for digging deep into his pocket but how deep are his pockets and could they contain so much money?

The NOTW article goes on to suggest that David Healy would make an ideal partner for Ade Akinbiyi but if thats true where would that leave Andy Gray on his return from injury?

Lots of questions, but it is a fun time when the transfer windows are open. Both in the virtual and real world its the stuff that all Clarets get excited about as they discuss the rumours in pubs and on virtual messageboards. What a sad world it would be if we were not allowed to speculate about rumours we hear on the internet.

Some are downright bizarre, some intruguing, some you think even possible, and some actually come true.

Right then so here's to Ole Gunner Solskjaer and Zinedine Zidane who will both be playing for the Clarets this February!

Oh heck, was that a dream then?

Good lord, someone has just informed me they have heard the same Healy rumour on Radio Lancs now! Well i would be over the moon if we did bring him to the Turf, but its still difficult to see how this deal is possible.

So then who is Pete the Claret? Following taken from SkySports Rumour section-'Burnley have made an offer to Leeds for unsettled striker David Healy. The offer is believed to be in the region of £1,000,000 with an added £100,000 on top in appearances. Pete The Claret - Burnley'
