November to Remember...?

November to Remember...?

Looking at the table at the beginning of November looks rosy for the Clarets fan. The next calendar month looks ever intriguing for the Turf Moor outfit, as any promotion credentials we have will be pushed to the limit.

October was wonderful, vicories, victories, victories, Andy Gray scoring a hatful, a mean defence, and a Manager of the Month award for Steve Cotterill please.

Any scripts handed out for the season so far would have pleasantly surprised a Burnley fan, we must admit that, but the position is on merit, but there are some things that could bring us back to earth with something of a bump.

Number one would be the squad size, a regular grumbling of recent seasons, but that could equally be a blessing, as we have become a tight unit, with a fantastic spirit about us so far. However, we were down to 16 against Luton, and still managed to pick up a great result, against a side unbeaten at home.

Cotterill highlighted the need for reinforcements straight after the win, and he is certainly right, because we have started so well, and like last year, we know how wrong it can go.

The other stumbling block is the fixtures that this already freezing November brings. Sure, we may be confident about the afternoon fixture with Ipswich, but they have already shown they are unpredictable this season, and we would do well to no underestimate them, but three points are well within reach.

That is where things take an upward turn, a steep turn. We take on leaders Cardiff next week at Ninian Park, in what could be a top of the table clash, then a trip to the Hawthorns to play agruably the best team in the league in West Brom, before home ties with Birmingham and Leeds Utd.

After the Ipswich game, that is four pivotal games in the space of 17 days, which could well ultimately shape our season, so November could very well be a month to remember. Lets just hope that the Manager of the Month curse doesn't kick in against Ipswich.
