It has been a quiet week in the Rumour Mill with no new links that is until Saturday! It would appear according to Sky Sports that Sean Dyche could now be considering a bid for Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury.
Lansbury got the attention of other clubs after coming through the Arsenal academy despite making only 3 league appearances for the Gunners during 2007-12. Most of his time on the books at Arsenal was spent away from the Emirates out on loan to clubs like Scunthorpe United, Watford, Norwich City and West Ham United. He did though make a name for himself during these loan periods making 98 appearances and scoring 14 goals.
He left Arsenal in August 2012 after accepting a four year deal with Championship side Nottingham Forest. The transfer fee was believed to be in excess of £1 million. Since that time the 23 year old former England Under 21 international has notched up 60 appearances scoring 12 goals which from midfield is pretty impressive.
Lansbury is considered a crucial part of the Forest team though so he would not be allowed to leave accept for a substantial amount of money. But how do you define substantial and would Lansbury himself not relish a return to the Premier League with this time a greater chance of playing a part?
Could Lansbury be one of the new players targeted by Dyche? According to the Burnley Express, the gaffer is certainly keen to add to the six signings so far on board this summer. We have had continued knockbacks for both Watford striker Troy Deeney and West Brom central defender, Craig Dawson Dawson seems keen to come to Turf Moor but we will review that situation in a separate article. It remains to be seen how strong the Lansbury rumour might be but at least the source is Sky Sports which could mean there is something in the link.
More rumours this week that Newcastle manager, Alan Pardew has targeted Danny Ings to add to his strike force. Ings though is staying calm and suggesting he is quite happy to stay at Burnley. This week he said from Burnley`s pre-season training camp in Austria:
"I signed a four-year contract when I came here and obviously I still have a year left.
"I don`t feel there should be any panic. I am just enjoying my football and going into my last year of my contract.
"As far as I am concerned, Burnley Football Club and the Premier League is where I am, 100%.
"Everybody knows I enjoy playing for Burnley Football Club. It`s a fantastic family club and I am not looking to leave."
