Austin Factor for Clarets Fans in Play-Offs Final?

We now know of course the teams who will face each other at Wembley in the Championship Play-Offs final on Sat 24th May (KO 15:00) and it could be that Clarets fans will be rooting for Derby County when they face QPR on the day. Why would that be so? Well, it would appear that according to rumours Burnley may well have an interest in bringing Charlie Austin back to Turf Moor just twelve months after selling the striker to QPR for a fee reported to be in the region of 4 million. The expectations were high for the West London club and they were one of the favourites for an instant return to the Premier League via automatic promotion. It was though in fact Leicester and 'ickle old Burnley that achieved that success and now we are in the driving seat with more pulling power in the transfer market after becoming a top flight club once again.

If Sean Dyche is interested in bringing Charlie back to Turf Moor, he will of course stand a greater chance of achieving that if QPR fail to beat Derby in the play-offs final. It would take a big money bid to lure Austin away from QPR if they too became a top flight club. Austin too would no doubt have ambitions to play in the Premier League and could be tempted to rejoin his former colleagues should QPR fail in their quest to reach nirvana. It is thought that the 24 year old former Swindon striker would be unlikely to want to stay at Loftus Road if the club are not promoted despite having signed a three-year contract with QPR. Austin has been in prolific form for the past few seasons now. This season he has scored 20 goals in all competitions for QPR despite an injury which kept him sidelined and limited his appearances to 35 during 2013-14. That sort of form is bound to attract interest from other clubs and Burnley could be in completion with new promoted Leicester and SPL club, Celtic if rumours are true. Norwich City are also thought to be interested but they have just been relegated back to the Championship so would appear to be at a disadvantage.

So what do you think? Would you relish having Charlie back and how would that effect the VINGS and BINGS partnerships? Comment below this article

If QPR don't go up they are up the Creek without a paddle and Austin will be only to pleased to come back to Premier League Burnley.

Exactly GC! Got the feeling Austin is somewhat ambitious too and wont be hangng around much longer at Championship level so if QPR want to keep him they know what they have to do. Come on Lee Grant...lol

I agree with sandydl there is no way Austin will be moving this summer, he's ours!! Why would he want to move back to Burnley??? You sold him remember, we bought him and he came to us because he is ambitious. You Burnley fans know as well as I do that the only reason we never went up through the automatics is because of the injuries we had!! You only got injuries with about 6 games left!! When we beat Derby next Saturday you can sit there and cry about what MIGHT have been!!! Tip: Burnley to come straight back down, QPR to beat derby next Saturday. You R'ssssssss
