Clarets International-Ings Yes, Lafferty No!
England's Under-21 side are on the verge of qualifying for the Euro 2015 play-offs following their 1-0 win against Wales U21 at Pride Park yesterday. The goal in the 56th minute was scored by Norwich winger, Nathan Redmond who cut in from the left to find the bottom corner of the net from 20 yards out. Victory keeps England top of their group and with the top two qualifying for the play-offs they are already nine points clear of third-placed Wales with three games left. Gareth Southgate named Burnley striker, Danny Ings on the bench for this one but he did make an appearance coming on for the final 23 minutes of the game after replacing Saido Berahino.
Meanwhile left back, Danny Lafferty missed out completely after not being named in the match squad for Northern Ireland`s friendly away to Cyprus in Nicosia last night. It turned out to be yet another 0-0 stalemate for the Irish! Northern Ireland's goal drought in away friendlies now stretches to 10 games and that clearly must be a worry for boss Michael O'Neill. Two former Burnley strikers featured in this game with one replacing another but neither managed to get on the score sheet. Kyle Lafferty came on for the start of the second-half replacing Martin Paterson but all to no avail.
