Noble and Arfield Become Clarets!

Burnley have made a dual-signing today. 24 year old former Scotland Under 21 midfielder, Scott Arfield (pictured above) has been given a two-year contract following a succesful trial at the club in pre-season. He left Huddersfield in the summer after making 119 appearances in three seasons for the Terriers and scoring nine goals.

22 year old former Sunderland striker, Ryan Noble has also signed on the dotted line for the Clarets after being offered a one-year deal. He was released by the Black Cats in May after four years with the club. Noble only managed a handful of Sunderland first-team appearances though whilst at the Wearside club and had a number of spells out on loan at Watford, Derby and Hartlepool.

'Scott is a real talent and Ryan is a goalscorer that just needs the chance to play,' said Burnley gaffer Sean Dyche.

'Scott joined us in pre-season and valued the chance to work hard here.

'That has deservedly rewarded him with a contract and we hope he turns into a really valuable player for us.

'We had Ryan at Watford but he was too young then and now he's a little older and wiser and we want him to be hungry to perform and impress and improve himself here.'

Welcome aboard chaps!

Hope these both work out for us and for them but can't helping thinking they are going to be bench warmers or sent out on loan at some stage so unfortunately I am underwhelmed at present. We need quality proven players to replace McCann and Pato.

They cost nothing hope they are worth it?

We need to build a squad of players who have the desire and hunger to be playing every week. they are both young and yet to reach their full potential maybe worthy additions.
Grimsby Claret
Well their salaries, no doubt cheap will still cost nevertheless. A Huddersfield reject and a kid with a handful of games? Word 'underwhelmed' comes to mind but let's give them a chance!

We could be in trouble if these are replacements for McCann and pato, if not when are we going to sign some quality. We keep hearing from our joint chairman's that we don't need to sell to buy, but with the lack of signings are the board telling us pokies.

In the words of Butch and Sundance "who are these guys?" what happened to we are Burnley super Burnley we are Burnley from the North...it seems no one does like us but we do care really!!

hardly confidence singings are they? is SD's first piority safety from relagation ? this is crap, we lose proven players who couldnt really help us into the top 6 and replace with , lets face it..... local rival rejects

i've not lost confidence in SD, but I'm unsure if he's earned it fully yet, we say " in SD we trust" i'm having trouble saying this with honest confidence. we trusted eddie and he did the job to the best of his ability, . the club was too big for him, wrong person wrong time. SD is required to have a season plan of at least top ten, pushing for play off ( there-or-there-abouts) .we aint gunna win the league, too many strong teams coming up n down, b ut we should be a force to be respected............ SD has to pressure the board into backing him, rather than accept all their boundaries. Im not saying spend stupid on some big money has been, but he needs to convey to the fans that he's upto it.

just re-read that post, it sounds like i'm a righ old northern moanin git who's never happy. ( may or may not be true) HOWEVER..... the message i mean to convey is actually concern.................. concern for a lack of overt and/or intended ambition. concern for ( lets face it)........... an unproven manager who is too ready to accept the ususal" there no money in the pot" crap, and lower his sights. I sooo hope i'm wrong or people will start confusing my posts with TMP"S (LOL)

The truth will out! ;-) Confusion is OK agreement would be better! lol. I think this has been the most frustrating pre-season I can remember. Nobody at the club seems to be communicating with the fans. No wonder the majority are pessimistic (see poll)

Ladbrokes are currently offering 3/1 for Burnley to suffer the drop and that price could shorten further should a poor start to the new campaign leave Dyche’s men near the foot of the table. Anybody wanna edge their bets?
