WBA Cotterill Rumours Persist

Burnley manager Steve Cotterill is still being linked with the vacant managerial position at the Hawthorns.

WBA chairman Jeremy Peace is reportedly a big fan of the gaffer, and although there has been no approach as of yet, the feeling that something is about to happen just won't go away.

There has been no approach as of yet, and Cotterill has himself stated that no approach has been made, but he didn't rule himself out of contention either.

With the Clarets travelling to Norwich at the weekend for the televised Sky game, the spotlight will be on as Burnley look to bounce back from last weekend's unfortunate defeat to Southampton.

According to another website, http://www.fansfc.com/burnleyfootballclub/news.asp?newsid=158026 Cotterill is close to moving to West Brom, but he and Kilby have stated that there has been no contact regarding this issue. The report also suggests that the Clarets ready to demand a £ 350k compensation payment.

My problem is not so much SC going but the instability it might cause in the interim. We can ill afford to lose many games up to Xmas considering the horrendous 2007 run in especially during March&April. Might SC also not have his eye on some of the Clarets to take with him to WBA should he decide to go there? Dont like this uncertainty and no doubt a replacement will be done on the cheap. We are supposedly losing £30,000 per week, makes that compensation package look pretty grim!

I do believe that Coterill will desert us and move where the pastures are greener . He started rebuilding a good and competent team . Leaving half way is most baffling .

I think he might need to weigh something up! There is no evidence yet he is the 'most promising' manager that folk say of him at this level. One midtable, one below midtable finish, with inconsistent, sometimes dull, boring play with a team all his own choice is hardly conclusive evidence he warrants that tag at the moment. Just suppose he does go to WBA, with all their better squad and resources! He would have to be successful and there is no guarantee of that! If he failed they would be wanting blood and his image of Quitterill will come back again to haunt him! Would anybody then want a quitter and a failure? On the other hand imagine the kudos he would get and the impressive CV he would be able to write if he got Burnley to the play-offs with limited resources He needs to box clever our Steve!

Why would someone want to leave for another club in the same division. Unless its money of course.

I guess with you losing 30K a week roughly so i have heard it would be money as to the reason he would leave
dazednconfuzed
That would be a great move for him
