Rumour Mill-Jara to Reyes His Game at Turf Moor?

Rumour Mill-Jara to Reyes His Game at Turf Moor?

Burnley are reportedly interested in bringing West Brom defender Gonzalo Alejandro Jara Reyes to Turf Moor

The 27-year-old has been told he has no future at the Hawthorns and will not be offered a new deal when his current contract expires this summer.

The Chilean international is used to playing in the Championship having started last season on loan at Brighton before completing a loan with Nottingham Forest.

Born in Santiago, Chile he made his professional debut in 2003 for Huachipato, where he played until his 2007 transfer to the South American team Colo-Colo.

Jara Reyes made a £1.4m move to West Bromwich Albion in August 2009. He is considered a versatile defender able to play both at centre back or full back.

So is he called Reyes or Jara? Well both; his name is based on Spanish convention whereby the first or paternal family name is Jara and the second or maternal family name is Reyes!

Sounds a useful player for the back four at least as cover in the full back position and possibly as a first choice partner for Shackell in centre of defence

I am happy that we are making moves early rather than later, just hope they are the right ones. In SD we must trust, with the money, what money?

With Lee going home to Derby and Heaton coming home to the North West, this could break the emerging mould of players not wanting to run up two-home expenses in these days of deflated wages for all but the elite. How much was the shirt, barnsey?

On the official Bfc site, there are now pictures of Heaton wearing the scarf, and SD talks about how the club had had that deal lined up for a long time, as a 'what if'. SD confirmed that they have other deals lined up for all other 'what ifs'. It sounds a bit like we may not be hearing anything more on Jara Reyes unless someone comes in with an offer we can't refuse for Trips? Presumably the other 'what ifs' are if someone comes in with an offer for Austin (more vague talk in Sunday papers, someone said to me, but I couldn't be bothered to look), if Pato and McCann don't accept the offers Bfc have made, and if someone comes in with offers for people SD doesn't want (which could plausibly include Treacy and Stock... but I personally doubt whether anyone would want to pay them as much as we probably do, so SD is probably stuck with them even if he doesn't actually want them). While getting deals done early is obviously helpful (and gets talked up a lot by overpaid SKY inflation-mongers like Gary Neville with their heads still stuck in yesterday's financial world), my guess is that the determination of all but a handful of clubs to get wages down will make for a slow several weeks as every club waits for all the others clubs' 'what ifs' to happen. But what do I know? Stand by for a rush of activity!!!

Sorry! I forgot to add 'self-serving' when I mentioned 'overpaid SKY inflation-mongers like Gary Neville with their heads still stuck in yesterday's financial world'. Actually I really like his football commentary, and am glad about his England role. Business-wise he's in as much of a bubble as our bankers.
