Club Appeal Marney Red Card!

The club are appealing against Dean Marney`s sending off against Birmingham City last Saturday at Turf Moor.

Marney was shown a straight red card by referee Darren Drysdale on the hour mark for a tackle on City defender Paul Robinson in last Saturday`s 2-1 defeat. The midfielder slid into the tackle one footed to win the ball at ground level but the referee judged that 'excessive force' had been used, immediately producing a red card and sending Marney off.

Sean Dyche was unhappy with the decision at the time and believes the tackle was not carried out with 'excessive force' saying he would like the referee`s interpretation of such an expression.

The gaffer confirmed on Monday that the Clarets are to appeal to the FA`s disciplinary department in a bid to overturn the decision and spare Marney an automatic three-match ban.

"We will be appealing. We felt it was the wrong decision at the time and since then we have looked at the incident again in the cold light of day to confirm our belief," said Dyche.

"We`ve also sought a few opinions from other people that confirm our thoughts, so we will put our faith in the appeals process in the belief we can get the right outcome and have the red card rescinded."

Justice, sack the referee is the only option and that does not help us.

We better not miss out on the play-offs by three points!! At least though we won the appeal, first I can remember in some time
turfmanphil
Though if we do miss out by three points will other defeats not be equally to blame?
RickersTwickers
This is probably the one we will think of! We played well with ten men that should have remained eleven!?
