Lazaar's Contract Cancelled by Mutual Consent

Development squad midfielder, Mehdi Lazaar has had his contract cancelled by mutual consent. Lazaar joined Burnley back in March 2010 from Royal Racing FC Montegnee for a fee reported to be in the region of £65,000 and at the time was a highly-rated Belgium Under-17 international. Lazaar was offered a contract by Manchester City the previous year but the club couldn't agree a fee with Royal Racing FC Montegnee. It was a bit of a coup therefore to bring him to Turf Moor. Sadly though things don't appear to have worked out and he failed to break into the first team despite signing a two year professional deal following a two year apprenticeship in the youth team.

Wonder if something happened off the pitch? All seems a bit sudden. Anybody know owt?

Guess there were simply no plans to extend his contract in the summer so it looks like another player with potential has failed to make the grade

I would imagine the number of players at 16, 17, 18 who appear to have potential but never make it is quite high - this is another one to the list. Wonder if he will make it back in Belgium ( I assume this is where he will go).

Well Man City wanted him, so guess they might have made same mistake! Yep,lots don't make it for whatever reason. Wonder if Man U's John Cofie will? Currently on loan at Shef U

Every time I watched him I was impressed. Problem is simply that he is a Development Squad Player and his chances to impress are on the training ground and not competitive matches. I dread to think what will happen to the other lads chomping at the bit.
