U's Better Believe It, Porter On Loan!

20-year-old Burnley winger, George Porter has joined League One, Colchester United on a youth loan until the end of the season.Porter joins the U's from January 1, 2013. Under the terms of the agreement though, Burnley can recall the winger at any time

Porter started his professional career at Leyton Orient and made 39 appearances for them, before signing for Burnley in July 2012 on a three-year contract. A £90,000 fee was agreed at a tribunal. He has so far though failed to make any sort of impression for the Clarets and made the eighteen just once this season as an unused substitute in our 3-1 defeat at Swindon in the Capital One Cup third round tie back in September

He will travel with the U's squad for their match at Crawley Town tomorrow and could feature.

Wondered what happened to him!! I guess we have a plethora of wingers at the moment so this move makes sense with Treacy back in favour and the new lad, Dane Richards available from January assuming he gets international clearance.

Interesting comments too in East Anglian Daily Times-Winger-or-striker Porter, who played for Cray Wanderers and Leyton Orient earlier in his career, has not made an appearance for Championship outfit Burnley this term. The 20-year-old arrives at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on a youth loan, and will be looking to force his way into the senior squad over the next few weeks. Porter has impressed against the U’s, while playing for Leyton Orient, although an injury held him back at his new club Burnley. U’s boss Joe Dunne enthused: “George is a very quick young player, who has great attacking qualities.” Porter announced on his Twitter account: “Delighted to have signed for Colchester on loan until the end of the season, really looking forward to my time here!!”

What is a 'youth loan' - I hope he gets some good game time.

Yeah, I not heard that one either! Guess it means you can sign youth players without waiting for emergency loan windows and the like that affect first team players? Just guessing
turfmanphil
I suppose too if you have not played for first team and are under the age of 24, you can still be classed as youth? Odd one, may have to research further
turfmanphil
Its nothing special, just that he is classed as a Youth Loan due to his age on 1st July. Would have to check up too but its just a name similar to Emergency Loan and 93 days blah blah ;)

Sean Dyche talking about th move: "It's a good chance for George at a good club, and we are looking at options for other people here as well to go and get that experience as part of their development."
