Manchester United 3-4 Burnley! Get in Youth Team!

It was a great night for Terry Pashley and his youth team tonight after knocking out none other than Manchester United 4-3 on their home turf! A superb hat-trick by Jason Gilchrist saw the Clarets progress to the next round against the most prestigious club in this competition! Let's be clear about this, the Burnley youth team have just entered the 'Theatre of Dreams` to face and defeat the 10-time winners of the competition. A remarkable achievement so well done lads! Gilchrist is becoming the rising youth star after tonight scoring his fourth hat-trick so far in an incredible season. The Clarets took the lead, then twice fell behind before scoring an amazing extra time winner.

Captain, Cameron Howieson opened the scoring nine minutes before the break for the Clarets after beating his marker to head home following a Lowe free kick to the near post. United though soon equalised just seconds into the one minute of first half added time. In the second-half, United then got their noses in front in the 64th minute but Burnley were not done yet! Gilchrist latched onto a through ball and at the second attempt he got the equaliser after his initial shot was initially saved by Gollini. 5 minutes later though and United were ahead again!

The remarkable happened though once more and the 'never say die' attitude of the Clarets young guns shone through yet again with just 10 minutes remaining. The United defender,Rowley passed the ball back to his keeper, but Gilchrist pounced and raced to block the attempted clearance. On the right corner of the box, a grateful Gilchrist slotted the ball home into an empty net to make it 3-3

Deep into the second half of extra time, Burnley then made it 4-3 in the 111th minute thanks to a superb cross from substitute Bradley Jackson to find Gilchrist. Gilchrist made no mistake and he crowned a memorable night both for himself and his team mates.

The future looks good with these young clarets on our books.

What a year 2012 has been for Pash! What a year 2012 has been for Howieson! And they aren't the ones scoring hat-tricks like Charlie Austin... take a bow Jason Gilchrist. Get him on a pro contract quick. And the 15-year-old who crossed for one of the goals. Shhh, don't tell anyone his name in case they swoop for him on one of those daft new cut-price ways for big clubs to get our young stars for next to nowt. And take a bow everyone in the Bfc organisation who are taking our youth set up to heights not achieved for so long.

Listened to the game on Clarets Player, fully deserved, I was chuffed to bits for them.

Great day for these lads - hopefully some of them can make the first team in the coming years!
