Tracing Treacy Not Sinking Without Trace!!

Tracing Treacy Not Sinking Without Trace!!

Can Clarets fans remember Keith Treacy? Some may even have thought he had left the club he has been so off the club`s radar this season. Former gaffer, Eddie Howe appeared to give the former Preston winger a lifeline in the close season but he never really took it and once again sunk without Treacy....I mean trace!

However under new management now, Treacy could still play his part in Burnley`s season! So who says so? Well new manager Sean Dyche in fact. Dyche makes it clear though it`s all down to Treacy`s attitude and a matter of keeping on the right track.

The Republic of Ireland international fell out of favour under previous boss Eddie Howe after another string of poor performances last season. He did however look to be making a return and was given his first chance in the Capital One Cup second round game against Plymouth in August! He was substituted at half-time in that game and has been nowhere near the eighteen since. Plymouth in fact has been his only appearance this season. The 24-year-old though appears to have knuckled down under Dyche and the gaffer is reported to be working with Treacy to try to get him back to top form.

'He`s someone who has talent and is realigning his thoughts on it," said Dyche.

"I`m a great believe in working with people. If you affect the person you`ll affect their performance.

"It`s an open chance for him to do well, as it is for all of those players.

"Sometimes you might go into a new club and you think you have to make changes immediately.

"Here it`s a case of are the players willing to change accordingly for what we think is appropriate and what we think will move them, the team and the club forward?

"So far they`ve accepted that with open arms and I think that`s shown in performances, the way they`ve gone about it. That`s a good sign."

Treacy scored in a friendly with Rochdale at Gawthorpe recently in a 6-0 trouncing with David Edgar grabbing a hat-trick and Wes Fletcher scoring the other two goals but according to Dyche is still has some way to go before reaching Championship fitness levels.

"Keith`s a work in progress himself. His fitness has just been lacking slightly, we`ve done a bit of work with that," said Dyche.

"I`ve spoken to him on several occasions. He`s certainly got something to offer, as have many others.

"His journey back to real first team fitness will only help himself and the squad. That`s the plan."

Dyche continued: "He`s working hard. He`s working at his fitness levels, because that`s important.

"The fitness demands of the game - you can forget about my opinion, it`s there for everyone to see. You see every week in the Premier League, you can pick any stats up off the internet, there`s that much out there.

"There`s a certain requirement beyond my thoughts on it, it`s just the reality of football.

"There`s a certain fitness base that is needed and he`s not quite there yet, but he`s getting there.

"We`ll monitor his situation wisely because we do believe he`s a very good player."

So what do you think? Comment below this article on the prospect of Treacy coming back. Do you think he will make it under the new gaffer? Could he realise his potential or will it be same old, same old and more treacle pudding?

Like I've said before, I'm a big fan of Keith Treacy. At times when he played at the start of last season he was a stand out performer, and there's absolutely no doubt he has a lot of ability. Really hope he can force his way back into the side, as we really need a player like him who can make things happen when he's on his game. He reminds me a bit of Chris Eagles in that respect. With a bit of luck he'll be playing in the game against B****rds at the weekend.

Adam he has no chance of playing this week, he is not fully match fit and Junior and Stewart are ahead of him at the moment. There is a lot to put right to get him to concentrate for 90 minutes and put in the effort to match that. SD is not the man to accept his style of performance which is not nearly as good as Junior (and that says something), I can only see him going out on loan come the next window. A wasted talent for sure.

How's Bikey-Amougou-Bikey doing at Boro? Have the problems with Keith all been down to Keith, or was there something in Edde's management that gave up a bit earlier on some players than Dyche might do? I have an open mind. That would include having an open mind to someone offering a half decent price and getting Keith off the payroll. My guess is that at the moment no other club thinks he's worth whatever we're paying him, and Keith's not yet ready to take a cut. How long's left on his contract? If during that scenario playing itself out, Sean and Keith can get things working, that would be great, whether for improving our playing squad, or for increasing the likelihood of someone offering a deal we and Keith would accept.

I've got a feeling that Dyche's man management skills may well bring the best out of Treacy. That can only be good for the club because on his day he can really turn it on , and is the kind of player I like to watch on the pitch. If Dyche is successful then this could be as good as a new signing , but as usual we'll have to wait and see if anything develops.
