Burnley X-Files: Laws in for the Knill!

League One strugglers Scunthorpe United have brought in former Burnley gaffer Brian Laws to replace sacked manager Alan Knill in an effort to stop the rot. Scunthorpe are third from bottom in 22nd place in the table with just 10 points from fifteen games. After being beaten 3-0 on Saturday at home by MK Dons, they have now lost five of their last seven matches.

This will be Laws third spell managing the Iron. He was also in charge between 1997 and March 2004 and then between April 2004 to 2006. The 51 year old will be hoping to restore Scunthorpe's fortunes as soon as possible and take them away from the relegation zone.

Laws became director of football at Irish League side Shamrock Rovers last season but recently expressed a desire to return to management in England. He will be assisted at Glanford Park by Russ Wilcox.

I am sure all Burnley fans will wish Brian well in his new job despite the rather acrimonious time he spent in charge of the Clarets. Laws was appointed manager of Burnley in January 2010 after Owen Coyle left for Bolton but he was never really accepted by the Burnley faithful. Unable to keep the club in the Premier League and with results after relegation going against him in the Championship, he was sacked in December 2010.

Good Luck to the man who was hounded out from day one. Quite a bit of catching up to do on Bournemouth. I wish him a play-off season.

Wouldn't disagree with that. Laws back to Scunthorpe, Howe back to Bournemouth and JR back on Dallas. What next?

I wish the absolute best of luck, still feel he was treated unfairly in every respect.

Agree with the above - Best of luck Brian. You were not given a chance by the majority.

I am not sure we have any stats to back it up CP - but it always seemed to me that more people were against than with him. Maybe it was just that those against him were more vocal that made it seem that way?

Without stating the obvious, once the editors of boards like this start to fuel the fires, one look at the poll has a 51% for poor or shocking appointment. A better poll would have been Automatic? Play Offs? Mid Table? Relegation Fight? Rather than only 36% support the new manager.

I'd go along with the well wishers. He had to deal with all sorts of problems at what to me was a bit of a low point in the clubs ups and downs. As per the latest - who knows?

Brian Laws will halt Scunthorpe's certain relegation. and take them back to the championship within 3 years. Hope Sean Dyche never has to face such a witch hunt.
