Clarets International: Lafferty in Irish Squad

Burnley left-back Danny Lafferty has been added to Northern Ireland`s squad for their Group F World Cup qualifier against Portugal to be played in the Drago Stadium, Porto on Tuesday 16th October (Kick-Off 8:45pm)

Lafferty was originally on the stand-by list but has now been called-up following injury withdrawals from Michael O`Neill`s original 24-man squad despite only featuring in one match for the Clarets so far this season.

The 23 year old former Derry City left-back won his first full cap for Northern Ireland in a friendly defeat to Holland at the end of last season.

There was also some good news for a couple of our youth players on the International front.

Goalkeeper Conor Mitchell and defender Cameron Dummigan have been included in Northern Ireland`s under-17 squad for a round of European Championship games in Estonia from 21-26 October.

Unless they have a third left back in their team I think he will start as northern Ireland also have a 17 year old Liverpool left back in their squad who hasn't featured yet for Liverpool so doubt he will play

I think this is good news - The experience is likely to be a good thing and could help us in the long run. At the moment, he appears to be third choice Burnley left back

Truly inspiring that Eddes third choice left back gets the nod for NI. Surely Mills and Mee must be called up soon!!!!!!

Eddie Howe on his way back to Bournemouth, apparently Marvin Bartley will also be on his way out with him. Not quite sure how to react to this. It was for 'personal reasons' and the BBC has suggested that this will pave the way for a return from Owen Coyle.

Bartley going with him, made me chuckle, Howe does not select Bartley that often so why take him? Perhaps because we have not paid for him yet!!!!!
