Clarets International- 2 No A-Vale!

Another two Burnley players have been called up for International duty and both will now miss Burnley's opening game of the season at Port Vale in the first round of the Capital One Cup. This now means Eddie Howe will be without four of his squad after the earlier announcement that Martin Paterson and Danny Lafferty had both been called up for Northern Ireland duty.

The other two players who will now be unavailable are new signing, Sam Vokes called up by Wales and Keith Treacy selected for the Republic of Ireland squad.

Vokes has been included in a 22-man squad to play Bosnia-Herzegovina in a friendly at Llanelli on Wednesday 15th August. The Capital One Cup opener against Port Vale is played the previous evening. Meanwhile Keith Treacy has been called up by Giovanni Trapattoni and is part of a 23 man Republic of Ireland squad preparing to play Serbia in a friendly in the Red Star Stadium, Belgrade. This match will also be played on Wednesday night next week.

Danny Ings sweating over a knee injury saw a specialist yesterday and could face a long spell out of action. He will certainly miss the Port Vale clash so Eddie Howe will have limited striking options with both Sam Vokes and Martin Paterson now also unavailable due to their international call ups.

Treacy has also been suffering from a slight groin injury which explains his recent absence from the friendly games. Our striking options look a bit grim for Vale now. I suppose this is a chance for the likes of Wes Fletcher and Alex MacDonald to shine and partner Charie Austin. Fletcher though has not fearured much in the pre-season build up and Macca has been playing a more midfield role.

Blimey, Ireland must be short of players. My barber, Albert O'Balsam, must be hopeful of a call up if Treacy is involved.

Really hoping Danny's injury doesn't turn out to be toooo bad. Such bad luck following the one before he even donned the shirt. Looking a bit further ahead, how many players have the NobLot got on international duty this week?

Treacy is a great player RT, I just dont understand how people cant see that. He has so much ability, and technically he's excellent. Expecting a lot from him this season. Really good to see four players on international duty though, shows that there is a lot of real quality in the squad.

Would appear Keith Treacy will be unavailable to feature for Rep of Ireland because of his groin strain
