Looks quite impressive! Hope we can add a midfielder or two before season kicks off! Hope nobody gets uptight about shirt numbers. Some thought Austin should have got the Number 9 shirt and Ben Mee always looks forlorn amongst the development squad players.

I think certain players prefer specific numbers , i'd think Austen wanted 23 !

I disagree that it looks impressive, I think we have a squad of less than 20 players, + some unknown quantities. It could be good, but other than Shackell who have we signed that will be a regular starter?

According to the Official Barrow AFC web site Joe Jackson and Tom Anderson are due to sign this morning on loan until January.....delete Jackson from above, probably Long and McDonald will go out on loan too. Wes Fletcher and Cammie possibly loans as well so they can get games? Add injuries to Bartley, Pato and possible sick notes for Austin and Ings and we are struggling big style......However if all stay fit, Junior has a blinding season and assists Austin and Ings to score week in week out and who cares if we have a tiny squad.....

Blimey and some call me negative!! If we can get a midfielder or two in, I dont think we will be that bad despite my earlier concerns. Our defence looks sorted in abundance and Vokes has boosted the attack providing we can keep hold of Austin. The subs bench is seven this season so some of the those on the periphery might get a chance to shine without going out on loan! We might also have gained a player some thought was in last chance saloon-Treacy!

Not negative, just being realistic, the abundance of defenders is great if they are any good? The attack looks great if they stay fit and how strong is our midfield to cope with a 4 4 2 or will we be playing Austin, Vokes, Ings or Pato up top alone? How good would a 5 man midfield be with Ings Stanislav Wallace McCann and Marney? It could all work out and I hope it does having committed the best part of £2k to watching us this season....however a touch of realism in my above post.

I will admit we wont get a good feel for how well we are likely to progress this season until we have had say the first ten games or so under our belt but on paper it doesn't look too bad to me providing we can sort out midfield. The captaincy is the key for me and now we have Shackell who also plays in back four, that could be half the battle

The best teams always start with a good defence. If you don't concede, you can't lose, so for the first time in years (yes, including the promotion season), we look as if we have a shot at not conceding many, then the boys at the front can create the winners - easy!

Good point Mike, have to say I am the most confident I have been about the defence too in many a season! Probably the best defence we had was under Cotts, the sort of Sinclair,McGreal, Cahill era! Our only problem back then was scoring so maybe its not that easy?

Opening game and missing Treacy, Lafferty, Pato, Ings and Vokes, this will show how strong this squad is. Lets see who is on the bench...let alone playing. My guess, Grant, Tripps, Shackell, Duff, Mee, McCann, Marney, Wallace, Stanislav, Porter and Austin. Subs Beast, Edgar, Mills, McDonald + 3 trialists!
