Wolves Confirm Vokes Can Leave!

Burnley's chances of signing former loan striker, Sam Vokes were improved today following an announcement that he would be allowed to leave Molineux.

'For Sam I think it is best to find a new challenge, I have spoken to him about that and we have had an honest, open discussion.' Wolves gaffer Ståle Solbakken told Wolves Official Website.

He continued: 'If an offer is right and Sam is happy and we are happy he will be allowed to leave on a permanent basis.

'We haven`t had any offers to date but just had an open chat with Sam two days ago about what is best for him and for us.'

Vokes still had 12 months remaining on his contract and it had already been announced that a decision on the striker's future was going to be made about the same time as their Ireland tour.

The 22-year-old Welsh international had loan spells with Championship sides Burnley and Brighton last season and both could now be in the market to sign him on a permanent deal. It is thought an asking price of £500,000 could be enough to secure his services.

Snap him up Eddie!! Will be miffed if the Seagulls get him!!

Cheap enough...I suppose it's up to him on where he want's to go and who can offer him the best deal, we could sign him and still have a good sum to come should Fletcher move on?

Will see how much Eddie does want him on a permanent basis ( if he does) and if so if he is top priority. Would have thought we should be in a good position should it suit.

It all went quiet on Josh McQuoid front too didn't it? Thought he might have been a stronger target but clearly not [Edited by turfmanphil]

Mcquoid had his qualities, but for me wasnt good enough. With no offence meant to the Cherries, if he was good enough he would probably have gone to a club in the championship?

In the words of Shania Twain....... no not man a feel like a woman! tuther one........... "He don't impress me much".........

Think I would have Vokes over McQuoid...Vokes gives us something different up front 500k would be a snip imo and he seems to fit Howe's criteria young with plenty to learn and already an established International the stumbling block would be how many games we can offer him? I would Imagine Pato, Austin and maybe Ings would be ahead of him, he would of course know Jay Rod has gone and Hines and maybe willing to fight for a place or would going to Brighton give him a more chance of first team football? I don't know only time will tell.

...and if we are due 10-15% of the profit on the Fletcher deal with Sunderland, it could be a done deal for almost nothing - result!

Sign him Eddie.

Rumour going round in local media that we could have 2,but more likely one new face in by time of Bath game next Tuesday night. Priority midfielder with Stock mentioned again. T'other could be Vokes
turfmanphil
Just because he was with us last season doesn't make him a great player in my view. Think Brian Stock would be a more useful purchase.
