'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hines Departs Turf Moor

Burnley have decided not to take up a one year option on the contract of striker Zavon Hines and he has been released as a free agent. The 23-year-old former West Ham striker spent just 12 months on the books and made just two starts for the Clarets, both in the League Cup in addition to 14 appearances from the bench. He finished last season on loan at AFC Bournemouth

"Things didn't work out for me at Burnley and I don't know why really," Hines told the local media

"It was unfortunate, but I guess that is football and you have to put it behind you and move on - to show those people what they are missing.

"I think there have been a few little things going on with clubs looking to sign me, but I will leave all that with my agent.

"I see myself as playing in the Championship, but obviously I will go to League One to prove myself and show to people that I am back to my best.

"I am prepared to go anywhere, but in an ideal situation I would like to be as close to London as possible."

Last sentence is the most revealing! You just get the impression he never settled in the north

Feel a bit sorry for Hines. He just couldnt get himself a run of games to show what he was capable of, for long periods he didnt even get a place on the bench. Obviously Eddie feels it will be another season of the same with Austin, Pato and Ings ahead of him in the pecking order, and also potentially Vokes or another new striker. Would have liked to have seen more of him, but its probably better for his career if he moves on.

I thought he had a decent first half at Cardiff in the cup last season - but didnt see much more of him. I suppose Eddie knows why? Wish him well.

Agree Dale, maybe he befriended Andre and the rest as you say is history, good luck to him.
