Macca McStays in New 12 Month Deal!

22-year-old Burnley striker, Alex MacDonald has agreed a new 12-month deal. His contract expired this summer and there had been some delay reaching an agreement. MacDonald came through the club`s youth system and made seven appearances for the Clarets last season, taking his total number of senior games for Burnley to fifteen. The Scotland under-21 international was sent out on loan to League 2, Plymouth towards the end of last season and he helped them retain their league status scoring four goals in eighteen appearances.MacDonald`s efforts with Plymouth alerted a number of clubs to his talents but it looks like his ambition lies with Burnley FC

MacDonald has now joined the squad in their pre-season training programme and could feature in their first summer friendly when they play Alrincham away this Saturday.

Macdonald talking about his new deal said:

"It`s something I wanted, I didn`t want to move away.

"I finally signed, and it`s a season I`m looking forward to - a make or break season for myself.

"I`ve been at the club a long time and never really made myself a first team regular.

"If I don`t do that this time, maybe it will be time to move on and look at things.

"But I`m not looking at that, only at breaking into the first team and staying there.

"It`s up to myself, I believe in my own ability, that I`m good enough."

Talking about interest from other clubs, including Plymouth he said:

"I knew I had an offer here, I spoke to the manager quite a few times over the season and he promised me something for this year, but I had a few clubs interested in me, and I had a few offers.

"But I think I`ve come to the right decision for me and my family."

Interesting to see MacDonald staying and Hines leaving, but there is no doubt that this guy has a lot of ability so Im happy hes staying. I wonder if, now that the league has reverted back to seven subs, we will see more of him.

Interesting one this. I have only seen very little of him Sheff Utd and Arsenal away in promotion year and Cardiff last season - I havent seen as of yet that he could be a big player for us - but I hope to be proved wrong. This is the third manager to show faith in him, and I believe he did well in pre season last year so he must have something! Best of Luck Macca - Hope you can make an impact this season.

Agree Dale and I would ask what position do we see this lad playing?
