Rickers Twickers Wins Euro 2012 Prediction League!

Euro 2012 has finished but how successful were you in predicting the outcome?

Well for the second tournament in succession, Rickers Twickers has managed to scoop the top spot. Following on from his success as 'Predict a Season` winner for 2011/12 he is now surely the man to beat for next year.

It would appear that predicting these games was much easier than predicting the games for the Clarets. Three people managed to achieve an Av PPG of over 1 point, which is something that most can only dream of after the first half dozen games of a Burnley season.

Is it easier? Or is it that we allow our head more of a say?

Anyway here is the final table for those of you who entered the game.

Look out for the 2012/13 Prediction League which will be coming soon.

Well done RT - Can you make it 3 in a row in the prediction league proper next season?

Well done again RT! I posted earlier how I was thrilled to have 8 points from the first round of games... until I noticed you had 10. In the later stages I guessed that I was playing catch-up and went for some less likely results; rather like a team trying to force things by bringing on its attacking subs when behind in a cup game, you could say! In answer to tmp's question, I would agree that we probably predict more rationally when our beloved is not involved. But I also think that there's a wider spread between the best and the worst in a national tournament than in the Championship. To illustrate that point, if you had always bet on Man U or Man City to win 2-0 in the spread-out PL last season, how many points would you have got? I would guess that it would have been more than 1 on average.

My kind of headline! To be honest I don't think this was any easier - perhaps a smaller number of games meant that those, like me, who had a bit of luck early doors opened up a bit of a lead. In any event, I fell away a bit at the end and thought that Dale might have sneaked it. Looks like I held on and, as European Champion I can safely say I am better than Engleberry Humpernickel! Great competition Dale...onwards to next season's Prediction League.

Can I second that motion?
