Rumour Mill-Fryers or Liars?

Manchester United 19 year old hot prospect, Ezekiel 'Zeki' Fryers is out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of this month and there is mounting speculation that he could be off to pastures new. Could those pastures actually be a Turf?

The Lancashire Telegraph today suggests Burnley may well be in the market to try and bring the defender to the club. This would not be the first time we have been linked with the player and previously it was mooted that a loan possibility might have been on the table. In the end of course nothing happened but will it be any different this time?

The left back, who can also play in the centre of defence may well be tempted by a move to a club just down the road.

Recent rumours though have also suggested other clubs could well be interested including some in the top flight so we could face some tough competition to sign him assuming the speculation is true.

Fryers made his senior debut for Manchester United in the League Cup on 20 September 2011, starting alongside Michael Carrick in central defence in United's third round 3-0 victory over rivals Leeds United. He has however only played a handful of games since for the United first team.

He has though also represented England at U16, U17 and U19 level.

We have been linked with so many left back/central utility defenders I have lost count! This kid at only 19 is one for the future unless he turns out to be another Eckersley!

How old was Gary Cahill when he was - if memory serves - simultaneously our player of the year and young player of the year?

He could be a good addition to our squad

According to the Manchester Evening News, the young lad is also being pursued by Newcastle as well as Spurs so that's us out the frame if true!

Cahill would have been 18-19 when on loan at Burnley in 2004-5. Born 19 December 1985
