'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Rumour Mill-Well Folks, It Might Still Be Vokes!

Eddie Howe has been told he will be given a proportion of the £6-7 million received from the sale of Jay Rodriguez to Southampton to help rebuild his squad in the summer.

Many Clarets fans might think the need for another striker would not be a top priority with Charlie Austin, Danny Ings, Martin Paterson and Zavon Hines our currently available strikeforce.

Alex MacDonald has also been offered a new deal but he has yet to sign and appears to pondering other options, maybe even a permanent move to Plymouth Argyle, where he spent some time out on loan last season.

Local reports recently though have suggested that Eddie Howe is still keen to bring in a new striker to replace Rodriguez who signed for the Saints last Sunday.

Howe is recently quoted as saying:

'We believe your team's only as good as your strikers; we're aware that it's such an important are of the team and we will be looking to bring one in.

"With the three main first team strikers I think we are very strong, but we are looking at adding to those three and maybe adding something different."

Could that 'something different' be Wolves striker, Sam Vokes?

Vokes of course is well known to Burnley fans having spent the first part of last season on loan at the club. The 22 year old Welsh international spent three months at Turf Moor making just nine apperances and scoring two goals before his loan spell came to an end in January this year.

Burnley were looking to extend his loan spell but the then Wolves manager, Mick McCarthy decided his striker needed to play more games and he finished up on loan at Brighton. Brighton have not made any attempt to sign the striker permanently so Burnley could now be in the driving seat following Wolves relegation from the Premier League last season.

We continue to be linked with the striker the latest being in the Sun newspaper today. Most Clarets fans I think would welcome Vokes back with open arms and he would indeed offer something different up front so let's hope this rumour is more fact than fiction!

I just so hope ths is true. Bringing in Vokes would certainly go some way to relieving the pain of losing JayRod!

£2million should do it, this should be the minimum for a full welsh international - don't let him go on the cheap Wolves!

Not a chance of BFC paying 2m for Vokes, looks like he's going no where johnboy.
Fedupclaret
didn't see enough of him to convince me he's worth a permanent punt. I think there might be more credibility in the link with Bristol City's Brett Pitman.

Interesting that Matt. I am a bit the opposite. I thought Vokes looked good and would be pleased to have him in the squad full time. Pitman didnt seem to play much in a struggling side at the back end of the season - What would make you pick him? Would it be worth signing a more experienced striker to help the younger lads through. A Jon Stead type for example.

£2m not a chance he's worth that amount
