The Vital Burnley 'Predict A Season' Winners

The Vital Burnley 'Predict A Season' Winners

Vital Burnley ran a competition at the start of last season to predict the fortunes of teams in all four divisions in the season ahead. Claret Dale announces the winners

Predict a Season - Not Easy

At the start of a season, all football fans debate who will do well and who will struggle over the coming season ahead. Last summer, we set the task of trying to predict the end of season standing for 2011-12.

For those of you that entered into the fun competition you can now find out below how well you did. The rules in case you had forgotten (I had) are included at the bottom;

RickersTwickers: 8 points (West Ham 1, Huddersfield 1, Shrewsbury 1, Doncaster 2, Macclesfield 2, Fulham 1)

TMP: : 6 Points (Swindon 2, Wycombe 1, Watford 1, Bury 1, Accrington 1)

Welsh: : 5 points (Huddersfield 1, Swindon 2, Wolves 2)

VinRogue: 4 points (West Ham 1, Shrewsbury 1, Fulham 1, Derby 1)

Crosspool: 4 points (West Ham 1, Watford 1, Hartlepool 1, Port Vale 1)

Dale: 4 points (Huddersfield 1, Crawley 1, Doncaster 2)

Grimsby: 4 points (Swindon 2, Macclesfield 2)

Sheclaret: 3 points (West Ham 1, Hartlepool 1, Accrington 1)

Couch Potato: 3 points (Huddersfield 1, Shrewsbury 1, Port Vale 1)

8c8: 2 points (Crewe 1, Hereford 1)

In addition the late entry from Barnsey (October) would have scored 5 points (Charlton 2, Crawley 1, Coventry 1, Burnley 1)

Congratulations to RickersTwickers for his success. Football is an unpredictable game and RT managed to get 6 out of his 12 predictions for the season correct. As for our faith in Burnley only Barnsey picked up any points for his prediction of where we would finish (and his was an October prediction). All others predicted a higher league placing than we achieved.

For all those interested, the Euro 2012 prediction league is now up and running and we will be back again with the Burnley prediction league for 2012/13.

Enjoy the summer!

Dale

The Rules:

In total you should be providing 12 teams.

Premier League Winners

One promoted team from The Championship, League One, League Two

One relegated team from The Premier League, Championship, League One, League Two

One team to finish mid-table. This means 9th, 10th, 11th in the Premier League and 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th in the Championship, League One, League Two.

Burnley`s final position

Each team you correctly predict will get you one point.

You will also get a bonus point if the team you have selected for Promotion wins the league, or the team you have selected for relegation finishes bottom. There is not a bonus point available for the Premier League winners.

If you correctly place Burnley then this will get you five points with one point gained if we finish one place either side.

Mrs RT has just flown off to Spain for a couple of weeks with her mum. I knew that once she was out of the way the plaudits would start to come in! At least I am on the Vital Burnley Honours Board now.
