Vital Burnley Euro 2012 Prediction League

Euro 2012 will soon be upon us and England of course now have a new manager in Roy Hodgson so how well will we do and how well will the other teams in our group perform?

We will also keep a close eye on the Republic of Ireland's group.

Why not have a go at predicting the outcome of all these games in our new summer prediction league competition? There will be a mystery prize for the top three winners.

Our prediction league competition organiser, Dale tells you more about the game and how to enter below.

Following on from this year`s Burnley Prediction League and 'Predict a season` competitions, Vital Burnley will now be running a further prediction tournament for the European Championships.

Couch Potato won the World Cup Prediction league in 2010. Will he again be the man to stop?

How will it work?

We will predict the games involving the groups of England and the Republic of Ireland plus ALL knockout games.

For anyone unfamiliar with the scoring, this is as follows;

Correct Result & Scoreline = 3 points (i.e. you predict 3-0, actual score 3-0)
Correct Result & Goal Difference = 2 points (i.e. you predict 3-0, actual score 4-1)
Correct Result = 1 point (i.e. you predict 3-0, actual score 2-0)
Incorrect = 0 points (ie. You predict 3-0, actual score 0-0)

In the knockout stages, the score after 90 minutes will count towards points.

Good Luck to all who enter!

Crushed by what looks like my collapse into 4th= in the VB regular season prediction league 3rd place playoff, and by my own sense of conviction that VR is going to give victory to Cuban in the VB PL relegation prediction league multi-way tie... I have decided to keep everything together and try to bounce back at the first attempt (just like it says in the *oyley Interview Phrasebook) and enter the VB Euro 2012 Prediction League. Bring it on!

Think we will all want to go 'toe to toe' in the 'Vital Burnley Euro 2012 Prediction League'.

I am in for a shot at this one. Am off to the Portuguese FA Cup Final, back next week to confirm Couch's fears....come on "Briosa" it was 1939 when they last won the cup, just a small matter of Sporting Lisbon to overcome!

I will be travelling around a bit this summer but will certainly give this a shot . Will try to watch some of the games once I figure out the time difference between Eastern European Summer Time, Central European Summer Time and Atlantic Daylight Time and Mountain Daylight Time All that and also try to predict the outcome of games Ha!!! Thanks to Dale for keeping me on my toes this summer

With the nation exhausted after four days of flag waving, I fear this prediction tournament is coming too early... but come on folks, get your party hats back on, and join in! Maybe put the Euro threads in this site's forums all in one place, like at the WC?

In anticipation of his site administration equerry being able to whip up some Euro-enthusiasm (for the tournament that is, rather than the currency) by bringing this site's various Euro forums and threads all together... Claret Charlie has today posted his thoughts in Ze Burnley Legends thread, covering both the upcoming French clash and the Greek injury crisis!

Not many people made predictions yet - not long to go now . . .

Could be tactical voting, CD? You know, see which way others are voting first. Then again, it could be that bad salad the Ukrainian team had in the German hotel, or that Burnley fans have gone a bit quiet generally in the last few weeks, and that - for once - national expectations are low. Then there's the recession, the Euro crisis, the debt-ridden Spanish banks, the rash of Greek general elections, post-Jubilee syndrome, pre-Olympic neurosis, and prediction austerity. Or that people don't know where to post their predictions? If you're not sure about that folks, just post them here... Italy/Spain: what score? Ireland/Croatia: what score? England/France: what score? Sweden/Ukraine: what score? Are there prizes this year CD?

Interesting what Teddy Sheringham said last week. There was not much interest and expectation that England would do well in Euro 1996 and it would appear the same this time round! Maybe that explains lack of interest in Euro Prediction League competition although we do have about 10 signed up and playing now [Edited by turfmanphil]
