Rumour Mill- Benali for Burnley?

Following on from the success we have achieved this season by bringing former Manchester City players, Kieran Trippier and Ben Mee to the club on permanent deals, it would appear Eddie Howe has his eye on another raw talent on City's books!

According to Sky Sports, Burnley are one of a number of Championship clubs reportedly interested in Manchester-born 20-year-old midfielder, Ahmad Benali.

He came though the ranks of the highly acclaimed youth system at the Etihad Stadium and signed his first professional deal with the club in the summer of 2010.

Benali then had a loan spell at Rochdale in the earlier part of last season but did not settle at Spotland making just two appearances despite having agreed a season-long loan. He therefore returned to City to continue his development with their Elite training squad.

The attacking midfielder is out of contract this summer and is attracting attention. Middlesbrough are also reported to be interested in signing the young talent who has yet to make his debut for City's first team.

'Ahmad had a disappointing time on loan at Rochdale and was unable to return to City until the January recall. Having returned to City he has got back in to his rhythm and been prolific over recent weeks in the Elite Development Squad,' his agent Adam Bouskouchi told Sky Sports.

'Given that Ahmad is a very skilful player and his best position is as an attacking midfielder we are carefully assessing our options to ensure he goes to a team who will be suited to his style of play.

'There are a number of clubs to have expressed an interest, but we can't go into details at this point'

Benali is quite a versatile player, although his main position is as an attacking midfielder he can also play up-front or on the wing.

We could become City's feeder club at this rate! Sounds like he is worth a punt though!

We shall see I suppose - Taking a chance on loaning youngsters from the premier league is something we should be doing aswell - Maybe this should mean any permanent signings we make are of the more experienced variety.

Hmmm...Didnt impress at Rochdale and his Agent is doing all the talking about his talents. However, if Boro and others are interested then as TMP says it may be worth a go.
