Rumour Mill-No Owls of Protest Over Treacy?

Rumour Mill-No Owls of Protest Over Treacy?

Newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday could be about to sign Burnley winger, Keith Treacy on a permanent deal.

The 23 year old Republic of Ireland international joined the Owls on loan in March after struggling to establish himself in the Clarets first team.

Treacy, although not a regular choice did help the Owls achieve promotion back to the Championship. Wednesday finished in the League 1 runners-up spot and Treacy could now be ready to remain at Hillsborough and face the Clarets next season.

The former Blackburn and Preston winger made in total seven appearances for Dave Jones side although that included only two starts. His loan was extended though until the end of the season and he scored one goal and made one assist against Brentford in their penultimate game of the season. He then went on to help the Owls beat Wycombe 2-0 at home last Saturday in their final game of the season and ensure their automatic promotion back to the Championship. Just before that final game,Treacy expressed an interest in joining Wednesday full-time.

Treacy appears to love playing his football in the Steel City with his first spell being on loan to Sheffield United from Blackburn Rovers for four months at the start of the 2009/10 season.

"When I was with United, I loved the city and playing here. The fans are so passionate," said Treacy.

"I love playing football in Sheffield. The Wednesday fans have really taken to me."

Treacy has been a huge disappointment at Turf Moor after arriving with high hopes last Summer for a fee of £500,000. Clarets fans would probably not be too disheartened if he now left the club.

Can't say I am surprised by this news! Just hope we can recuperate a significant slice of the cash we paid out for him!

Well, he has done it well at Wednesday witch should have rised his pricetag. Tho' I must say - I'm not to fond with the idea that only Stanislas can play purely on the left wing. We need another l.v, guys.... Treacy looks like isn't a part of the plans for the future, but than bring in another one.. McQuoid?

Wouldnt be surprised at all if Keith leaves - clearly has quality but it doesnt show often enough.

Just like Kev McDonald he needs to grow up and work out what he wants? Sportsman and Professional Athlete or a rich numpty, and on the case of rich numptys please add the legend that could have been Robbie (I am leaving to play football) Blake or maybe just to cash in on a big pay day.....

His decent form at Wednesday presumably has increased the chances of us holding out for at least what we paid, whether from Wednesday or someone else. Then again, early resolution of Keith's future would let us do more advance planning, which we didn't have enough of last year. Who'd be a Chief Exec? Presumably Lee Hoos plus Eddie and Brendan are calling the window shots?

I would be surprised if we get what we paid CP ( whatever that figure is) - I would expect if he does leave it will be on the ever increasing ' undisc' values!

he has done ok without pulling any trees up. has a good left foot and can put a great ball in. but not sure whether hes a championship player. he would be an ok signing as a squad player for the owls but if he stayed with you or moved to someone else i wouldnt be bothered

Good shout that Mick, he drifts out of games far too easy for me, fails to show for the ball enough and tracks back every Bank Holiday Thursday! Scored a peach at Posh for us "last season" but little else of "TEAM" value imo.

I just sense there may be something else going on here. He did have personal problems earlier in the season and there is a feeling that Howe & Treacy don't exactly hit it off! You are right though, if players don't perform on the pitch whatever the circumstances time to get rid!

If we do get rid of Treacy, it will mean we will need another winger and the list of goodbye players is expanding by the minute. Easton, Amougou, Treacy and maybe Hines. Add to that the possibility of losing Jay Rod and god forbid Trippier, you begin to see the extent of the squad rebuilding and financing we might need against a backdrop of pleading poverty and the FIFA Fair Play ruling!
