We bring you a few snippets of recent news you may have missed in the hectic world of the Clarets! Our Youth team are doing great guns in the FA Youth Cup after beating West Brom last week and qualifying for the quarter finals where they will face either Manchester City or Fulham.
David Edgar has again been honoured at international level by Canada, the marketing team at Turf Moor has been rewarded for their hard work after being nominated for two league awards and former keeper, Marlon Beresford has been given the task of coaching the keepers at Northern Ireland Under 21 level. Read on and we will elaborate!
Burnley Youth Through to FA Youth Cup Quarter Finals
Burnley are through to the the last eight of the FA Youth Cup for the first time in 34 years after beating West Brom 2-1 at the Hawthorns last Wednesday night. The Baggies were two minutes away from forcing extra-time after Aaron Birch`s 85th-minute goal cancelled out Steven Hewitt`s successful 15th-minute penalty. Shay McCartan though made it a joyful night for the Clarets scoring the winner from a short corner on 88 minutes after picking up the ball from Steven Hewitt and blasting the ball home with his left foot into the top corner of the net.
The Clarets will now face either Manchester City or Fulham away in the next round with these two teams playing later this week on Wednesday night.

Injury News regarding Archie Love
One sad note in the FAYouth Cup win over West Brom in midweek was the fact that our central midfielder, Archie Love fractured and dislocated his left hand during the game. The injury required surgery but the 18 year old looks likely to still be able to play in the FA Youth Cup quarter final on the 25th February according to youth team boss, Terry Pashley. It is thought wearing a small cast will be enough protection and allow the hot prospect to train and play.
Youth team to play at either Etihad Stadium or Craven Cottage in FA Youth Cup Quarter Final
A new ruling could prove to be an exciting prospect for the Burnley Youth team in the quarter final round. Burnley will play either Manchester City or Fulham on the 25th February and we will know which club we face after they play each other on Wednesday night this week. The game though now must be played in the club`s home stadium which means that the young lads will either be playing at Craven Cottage or more hopefully the Etihad Stadium. What a night and what a thrill that could be for our youngsters!
David Edgar gets International Call-Up for Canada
Defender David Edgar has received another international call up for the Canadian national team later this month.
Canada play a friendly game against Armenia on 29th February 2012, in Limassol, Cyprus.
The match is being played as part of the Canucks 2014 World Cup preparations.
They face a six-match series later this year playing Honduras, Cuba and Panama home and away. The top-two teams in this group will then advance to the final qualifying round. Canada will be hoping to be one of the CONCACAF nations qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Football League Awards Nomination for Burnley FC Marketing Team
Burnley has been shortlisted for the Perform Best Marketing Campaign at the Football League Awards 2012 along with five other clubs, Cardiff City, Hartlepool United, Huddersfield Town, Hull City and Walsall.
The Marketing team at Burnley developed a social media campaign called 'Bringing the Boys to You`, to highlight how a consumer could get extra content through a subscription to the premium content on the Burnley website. This was done through amusing video virals with Burnley squad members turning up in fan`s homes.
When assessing the category, judges looked at the clubs that had best demonstrated results through the use of an innovative marketing campaign that engaged with their target audience.
Burnley have also been nominated for the Best Matchday Programme category. 'Claret & You` has now been nominated for the third time in four years with the club this time hoping to beat off the competition from Brighton, Huddersfield, Notts County, Swindon and Torquay.
This year`s Football League Awards sees a total of 17 awards with the winners being announced at the gala ceremony at The Brewery, London on Sunday 11th March 2012.
