Could Burnley be considering a move for Nottingham Forest defender, Luke Chambers?
Forest websites and Twitter seem to be suggesting that Burnley have already sorted out a deal for the 6ft 1' 26 year old with some suggesting we have agreed a fee of £1.2 million plus two of our fringe players to lure him to Turf Moor.
Chambers started his professional career at Northampton Town having joined them as a youth in 2001. He eventually became captain under then Northampton manager Colin Calderwood.
Calderwood of course eventually became manager of Nottingham Forest and it was during his tenure there that he brought Chambers to the City Ground in January 2007 for an undisclosed fee.
He has since made over 180 appearances for the club and was made captain for the start of the 2011-12 season by former gaffer, Steve McClaren.
The Republic of Ireland National team are also thought to be watching his progress closely. Although born in Kettering, Chambers would qualify to play for the RoI through his Irish grandfather.
Although naturally a centre back, Chambers can also play at right back, so could be an attractive option for Eddie Howe's back four providing natural cover for Kieran Trippier.
Forest look likely to lose their centre back, Wes Morgan to Leicester so to let another centre back go could be a significant problem for under-pressure manager, Steve Cotterill. His side are already looking like relegation candidates with no money to spend and currently third from bottom four points clear of safety.
It is difficult to gauge if there is any substance in this rumour but if there is any last minute deal to be sorted out, it is interesting to note that Burnley play Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday night. That night just happens to be transfer deadline day so everybody will be in the right place at the right time to sort out the paperwork before 11pm!
