Howe`s 'No Not That Lafferty' Trial!

Derry City left-back Daniel Lafferty has been offered a trial at Burnley after taking part in a first team training session at Turf Moor this week. Eddie Howe looks set to make a decision on the Northern Ireland Under 21 international sometime next week. Lafferty has been on Burnley`s radar for some time and the former Celtic defender was watched last season by Clarets representatives.

Lafferty spent five years at Celtic joining the club in 2006 after coming through Oxford United`s youth system; the period also included a loan spell at Ayr United. He signed for his hometown club, Derry City in 2010 but it is widely believed he is keen to further his career across the Channel again and that a move to Burnley would be of interest. Negotiations on the transfer fee are understood to have already commenced between Derry chairman, Philip O`Doherty, who is currently out of the country on business and Barry Kilby.

Derry gaffer Declan Devine said.

"I`m aware that the player has travelled over to Burnley and I`m also aware that the chairmen of both clubs have been discussing the possibility of Danny moving back across the Channel,.

"While I certainly hate the thought of losing probably the best left-back in the League of Ireland, I don`t think there`s too much we can do about it.

"Obviously, the club has to come first and, no doubt, the transfer fee will ensure that we are keeping our heads above water, but it certainly does cause us major problems on the team front.

"I was aware that Burnley had been one of the clubs watching Danny last season and while that doesn`t come as a surprise given his performances, I always felt a move to England would be on the cards sooner rather than later"

Heck it's all happening! We also had two triallists in the Reserve game against Preston this week, Matt Fry, a defender from West Ham, and Marvin Johnson, a striker from non-league club Romulus!

It must be such a relief to Eddie to be working in this way, after all the difficult work he had to do over the summer.

Gosh, this must be one of the most exciting transfer windows ever. Just need to hold on to who we want to hold onto as well. Just 11 days to go, fingers crossed!

I'm really happy that the squad is getting bulked up especially in defence if these two come in. I believe its the second time that Marvin Johnson has come on trail? If so Eddie must see something in him. I cant help but feel really optimistic for the future of this club as long as we don't sell any players we don't need to. Up the clarets!!
