Rumour Mill-Giles Barnes Anyone?

The Clarets along with Ipswich, West Ham and Celtic are reported to be monitoring 23 year old, Doncaster Rovers midfielder, Giles Barnes.

Doncaster are understood to be talking to the ex-West Brom player with a view to extending his contract which expires on the 1st January.

Barnes left the Hawthorns for Doncaster only last summer on a free transfer after signing a short-term six month contract following a successful trial at the Keepmoat.

He has made 12 starts and eight sub appearances since joining Rovers in August 2011.

The tall 6ft 1' midfielder started his career with Derby County but in February 2010, he signed for West Bromwich Albion on an initial 18-month contract before being released this summer.

The former England Under 19 international can play both on the wing and as an attacking midfielder.

Interesting one since he only played against us on Boxing Day! It would appear we have been linked with a number of Donny Rovers players including also Stock and Sharp

Donny do not seem to rate him but who knows. With the right manager, EH, he could blossom into a great player. Right age, size and cost. I put my faith in Eddie to make the right choices.

6ft1 and fairly quick? Tick. Played at the top level? Tick. Price? Dunno. Ability? Pass. Have heard of him, but that doesn't mean a lot! Time will tell, I suppose. As I reckon (departures not withstanding) we need a left back, a centre half and a central midfielder, at least this fills one of those holes! Will ask a Donny fan Dale and I know in due course...or maybe Dale will?! :-)

Won't happen this window now! Doncaster midfielder Giles Barnes has signed a new deal to keep him at the Keepmoat Stadium until the beginning of May.
