Rumour Mill-Will Burnley McLean Up?

Rumour Mill-Will Burnley McLean Up?

19 year old St Mirren midfielder, Kenny Mclean would appear to be one of Eddie Howe's targets in the January window if reports in the Scottish media are true.

Mclean already has a Scotland Under 21 cap after making his debut in March this year.

He moved out on loan from St. Mirren to Arbroath in the January 2010 transfer window making a total of 20 league appearances during the second half of the 2009-10 season.

Since that time, he has now become established in Saints first team and is fast becoming hot property although it would appear that Burnley have become the first club to be rumoured to be linked with the player.

Burnley are understood to be watching him in today's game against Hearts.

McClean is under contract until the summer of 2014 so it might take a sizeable fee to lure him away to Turf Moor. There is no doubt though that St Mirren manager,Danny McLean holds his namesake in high regard. He has done nothing but praise his young talent since McLean scored a goal in their win against St Johnstone a few days ago.

Once again Clarets fans might begin to wonder why the transfer gossip only ever seems to link the Clarets with a move for young players with potential. The general consensus amongst fans appears to be that we need experience but that would appear to go against Eddie Howe's philosophy of being suspicious of any player over the age of 30 and the Board's apparant unwillingness to pay for the quality of players we quite clearly need to push this squad from probable midtable certainties to strong promotion candidates.

Here we go again! Same old, same old! Fine looking at young kids with prospect but its no good having prospects if they finish up getting us promoted from League 1

Is our youth team that bad? Don't understand why we are being linked with other youngsters when we have our own. It must be demoralising if you are in the youth setup to see the club being linked to other young players constantly. With the youth we have brought through in recent seasons including McCann, Lafferty and Jay? Also with Hewitt and Harvey now waiting for their opportunities in midfield would we need another youngster? I'm all for bringing in young players but only to put in the centre of excellence not to go into the first team. Experienced and young approx 24-28 preferably for new signings in my opinion, best of both willingness to succeed, young and experienced.

Joe McKee is at St Mirren bench warming lets buy him......oh yes I nearly forgot he is one of our very promising youngsters so we don't have to buy him! Perhaps loan him to a club that will play him would have been a better option?

McLean, 19, has just been voted the SPL’s young player of the month and is already on the Hoops’ radar, but Burnley could step in with an offer in the new year.' Could, COULD? Are they or are they not?
